Küf Knotz & Christine Elise – Hypnagogia
This album’s presence in my collection is the result of one of those moments when I stepped outside my comfort zone and found something amazing there.

Taking up most of the album cover is a triangle filled with other psychedelic colors and designs. If you were to scroll back through all the previous entries of my record collection, it would be fairly obvious, fair reader, that I’m no hip-hop or rap aficionado. But I went to see a show being sponsored by a friend, and finally got to hear a pair of artists I’d heard a lot about here in the Philly area: Küf Knotz and Christine Elise.
Well. They create an amazing, beautiful, uplifting soundscape, with Küf putting down the beats and much of the rap, and Christine providing ethereal vocals and even more ethereal harp. That’s right: hip-hop and harp. It’s unbelievable:
We became instant fans. This music is so beautiful, so loving, and just fills such a space in my soul. It’s amazing to experience in person, but it certainly doesn’t suffer on vinyl. We picked this up at a show they played in our local park this past summer (I believe it was released in 2024 as well), and found it all no less moving on a hot summer day than it had been in the close confines of a club.
Also – to date, the only artist from whom I have bought loose tea. (No, that’s not a euphemism.)
