Fanny – Live on Beat-Club ’71-’72

As big a fan of Fanny as I am, I think that, like a lot of bands of that time, their records don’t fully capture the energy of their live performances. Luckily, there’s a fair sampling of their live sets from various TV shows available on YouTube, so we can get a sense of how exciting they were. The best of these came from the German show “Beat-Club,” where were were just on fire, so I was super-excited when it was announced that those Beat-Club cuts were going to be released on vinyl this year!

Not a disappointing track on it, either. It captures their best cover songs, which is great – nobody, and I mean nobody, does “Hey Bulldog” better, and their cover of “Special Care” is fantastic. I do wish there were at least one more of their originals because they wrote great songs, but so it goes. So glad the band has finally gotten some recognition it deserves, and that these tracks found their way to vinyl.
