Fleetwood Mac — The Alternate Fleetwood Mac
There’s not much I can say about this that I didn’t already say about the original album. This is a set of alternate versions and takes from the 1975 album that were released previously on CD and on vinyl for Record Store Day last year, 2019. Despite the limited edition, I did not wait in line for it (much more on my aversion to lines in the next entry); in fact, I wasn’t even particularly jonesing for it. But, after the lines and craziness had cleared out, we decided to take a walk downtown, and if we just happened to end up at the record store, and if he just happened to still be open after a very long day, maybe we’d go in. He was, we did, and this was there and I was suddenly very excited to own it. Brought it home and was not disappointed. I’ve heard these tracks before, because I have the CD, but I do most of my listening on vinyl these days. And while you can hear why they made the choices they made about the cuts that went into the final album, these alternates are really good, just different approaches that in most cases work in their own way. I’m as likely to put this on as the original.
