Bully – Lucky For You

Like Bikini Kill, I found out about this by pulling a shift in my local record store and deciding to give it a listen. Unlike Bikini Kill, I had never even heard of Bully before. The band, which was once a full band, has been around since 2015, but now it’s just a solo project by the same name for Alicia Bognanno. Saw it, asked my friend Shawn (who owns the store) about it, and he said it was a great album. So I gave it a listen, and . . . he wasn’t wrong.

It’s taken me forever to recognize what one of the songs reminds me of – like the most rocking of Sheryl Crow’s material, in one case. Or Veruca Salt, or The Breeders. Overall, rocking, emotional, heavy, but enjoyable throughout. It made a number of top album lists for 2023 – including mine!
