Claudine Longet — Colours
I bought this in the dollar bin at Forever Changes, same as “Claudine,” earlier this year. It’s from 1968, a somewhat better album than the other, including some very nice versions of “Scarborough Fair,” “Catch the Wind,” “Am I Blue,” even “Both Sides Now” and “I Think It’s Going to Rain Today.”
Longet issued four albums in a two-year span, so 1967 and 1968 were really her peak years. After a run of high-charting albums, her early ’70s releases didn’t chart at all, which speaks to the power of being married to someone who can put you on national television on a regular basis (and then the loss of that power when the show and the husband are taken out of the equation).
