Los Bitchos – Let The Festivities Begin!

Well, I’m surprised to find that somehow I haven’t yet written about Los Bitchos! I mentioned them in the last entry on Los Wembler’s de Iquitos and then found that I’ve never written them up here.

This is a band that I discovered entirely because a friend of mine was writing album reviews for Pop Matters, and back in 2022 he wrote about Los Bitchos in a way that made me want to know more. Since he started with a nod to The Ventures’ Don Wilson, of course I was going to be paying attention. I rarely jump right on something, but I immediately checked out their music on YouTube – and I was immediately infatuated. At the time, their vinyl wasn’t available in the US, so I bought their music on Bandcamp but really wanted physical media – so I was thrilled when this limited edition became available in summer 2022, and ordered it with overseas shipping and all. Amazing.

I immediately became infatuated, and was happy to find that their performances are all over YouTube. Check them out in this great performance on KEXP:
