Fake Fruit – Fake Fruit
Remember when Twitter stopped being any kind of fun and became a complete hellscape? Looking to fill a social media void, I decamped to Mastodon, and set about filling up my timeline with posts that weren’t hate crimes. So I started following some music hashtags and accounts, and checking out some artists I would otherwise have never known.

I don’t remember how they came to my attention there, but one Bandcamp Friday, I decided to take a chance on this band – Fake Fruit. (They’re from Oakland, CA – so the “Albany Bowl” art on the cover is not my Albany.)
It’s indie rock, I’d say in the vein of Courtney Barnett – very enjoyable. This release is from 2021; they’ve just put out a new record that I haven’t had a chance to listen to, but I’m likely to give it a try.
You can check them out at Bandcamp!
