Françoise Hardy – Mon Amie la Rose
In the last entry, I talked about why I’m just buying Françoise Hardy records almost whenever I find them. She has a lovely voice, I enjoy French pop even though (and perhaps because) I hardly understand a word. It’s all just fine. This is my most recent acquisition, a 2017 reissue of a 1964 album. More of that light, easy, orchestrated ’60s pop sound. Now with four Hardy albums, a Jane Birkin, a France Gall, the recent Pomplamoose collection in French, I’ve got a healthy collection of French pop for Sunday morning listening, something to drink coffee and read books to. (I’ve got an amount of French and other international music in my iTunes collection as well, but I’m hardly ever listening to digital music anymore.)
Even with this simple task, I’ve managed to mess up the order – this was released two years before the Hardy record I wrote about last time. So it goes.
