George Liberace — Hi-Fi Fun

Okay, I bought this at a yard sale over on Prospect Street a couple of years back, 100% for the FABULOUS cover photo. It’s a beauty.

George LIberace Hi-Fi Fun front cover – seriously, this is OUT THERE for 1956.

But am I actually going to play a record from 1956 by the more famous Liberace’s elder brother George? Am I going to put it on and listen to the six songs on this 10″ record, with titles like “Pizzicato Waltz,” “Bullfrog on a Spree,” “Mozart Arriba,” and “Yodel on the String”?

Well, I did. It wasn’t as beat-up as you’d expect a yard sale record to be. And the music? Well, it’s not as goofy as you might think. I mean it is, but it’s not entirely a novelty record. I can see using the music as a bed for something. It’s fine.

This quickly rose to a position as one of my favorite covers of all time! It’s just epic!

The rest of the “House Party” series is highlighted on the back cover. It wouldn’t be a bad party, necessarily.
