Ray Charles — The Sensational Ray Charles
Not a lot to say about this one. I picked it up maybe three years ago here at Deep Groove in Phoenixville. On Coronet Records, it’s a compilation album from 1965 — but it’s a great compilation full of tracks I didn’t previously have on vinyl or digital. I definitely didn’t have Ray covering “See See Rider,” and I’m glad I do. Plus, it’s the finest quality electronically reprocessed stereo! No jazz on this one, it’s the soulful Ray, and that’s okay. And that ’60s album cover design. Even a minor label knew how to do it then.
I just picked this up in a thrift store. I can’t quit listening to it.
Now I’m gonna have to, too!
