The Blues Brothers – Made in America
This is the followup to Briefcase Full of Blues, coming out in 1980, around or after the movie was released. I’m not sure why I didn’t buy the movie soundtrack at the time — I got it a few years later on CD — but I picked this up used a year or two after it came out. Still great. In the case of the Blues Brothers, more of the same was definitely not a bad thing, and these songs helped set me up for a love of the blues that would deepen later on. Their respect for the original material, their insistence on crediting the creators, and their tremendous playing were still unlike anything else that was going on in the music world at the time.
